Microsoft has announced that as of October 10th 2017 they will no longer provide technical support, bug fixes or security updates for Microsoft Office 2007. Although it was released 10 years ago, it can be easy enough to forget to update your software and it serves as a good reminder to take a moment to look at the new options available. Here is 3 of them.

The other important reason you need to upgrade is that if you are using Outlook 2007, it will no longer be able to connect to Office 365 mailboxes as of the 31st of October.

If you do need to upgrade, there are a few options available.

  1. Office 365: A subscription based version of Office with multiple plans depending on what you need. This is the most up to date version of Office
  2. Office 2016: A one off purchase available on a per license basis
  3. G Suite: A free, cloud based office suite including Docs (Word), Slides (Powerpoint) and Sheets (Excel) with Online Storage and a custom email address available for $5 a month per user.
