One of the most powerful workshops I've had this year wasn’t even planned. I sat down with a client for what was meant to be a quick chat… and it turned into a full-blown working session.

The challenge? They needed to quickly interpret a set of electrical plans and generate a takeoff for costing and planning. Normally, this would be a time-intensive, manual task.

So, we brought in AI.

Using generative AI and computer vision, we analysed the plans on the spot and produced an automated takeoff - faster than anyone expected. Live detection of symbols, extraction of quantities, and even early-stage cost modelling - all in minutes.

It went from "Can AI even help here?" to "We can’t go back to doing this manually."

This wasn’t a canned demo. This was real work, in real time, with real results.

It's moments like these that remind me that when AI is custom-fit to the people using it, it becomes something much more powerful than just "smart tech." It becomes a personalised tool for real-world problem-solving.
