From the entire team at DCODE, we hope you had a safe and happy holiday season and are ready for a great year ahead in 2015. With the holiday break behind us, now is the time to start looking towards the next year and planning what you intend to achieve - both in the business and online. Here are some ideas that might trigger an idea in your own business.

Ultimately, no business is the same - we all have different structures, purposes and goals.  However, in identifying your some alternatives, you can often start to evaluate how these may be useful in your own business.

Start an eNewsletter

An eNewsletter can be a great way to connect with your business stakeholders on a regular basis.  By posting regular and interesting content, you can keep in touch with a large audience and ensure that your business remains front-of-mind.  If your business doesn't have an eNewsletter, 2015 may be the year to start - it's easier than you think!

Re-Brand Your Website

With so many users looking online to find out more about a business, a dated website can have a detrimental affect on whether or not the client contacts you or not.  Ensuring that the content on your website accurately describes what you do - while maintaining an aesthetically pleasing presence - can have an enormous impact on how potential clients/customers view your business.  So take a moment to evaluate how your website looks and consider updating and refining the website in 2015.

Does Your Website Work on a Mobile Device?

With Internet users increasingly using mobile devices to browse websites, it is becoming increasingly important to ensure that your website works on a mobile device.  If your site is difficult to read on a mobile, or takes too long to load, most users will simply pass over the site.  Ensuring that your site is easy to use on a mobile device can significantly improve conversions - particularly relevant for eCommerce stores.  And with mobile users measuring over 50% for many websites - this is an important consideration for your online presence.

In 2015, look to ensure that your website is Adaptive or Responsive to help ensure it is accessible on mobile devices.

Start Selling Online

If you already have a strong online presence - then 2015 may be the year to consider selling online.  It is now even easier than ever to establish an online store and often you can be up and running in a matter of hours!

With consumer sentiment growing towards purchasing online, many of your customers may value the opportunity (and ease) of purchasing through an online store.  And having the capacity to sell 24/7 may be an added benefit to you and your business.  So take some time to consider whether or not online sales is an opportunity for your business in 2015.

In addition to these suggestions, other options you can review in 2015 include:

  • Review your social media strategy;
  • Review your performance in search engine rankings;
  • Evaluate your hosting/email plans;
  • ... and many more.

Technology can be a great enabler for your business.  And in 2015, make some steps to ensure that your technology is working to assist you by making your business more efficient and effective.
